A swimming pool in Durban is just what we need for our climate. At BLUPOOL, we pride ourselves on the quality of our workmanship.
Our team of pool builders have over 27 years of experience installing and building swimming pools.
Gunite (Concrete)
Gunite pools are usually the first option when a customised pool is wanted. One can customise every aspect of a gunite pool:
- The depth
- Step configuration
- Shape
- Size
- Finish
Gunite pools are usually more expensive because they take slightly longer than Fibreglass Pool Installations.
The structure and finish of the concrete pool require more building materials.
Some swimming pool owners in Durban are willing to wait a little longer and pay a little more because they will end up with a more solid structure.
Gunite with a tiled finish
A gunite or concrete pool can also have a tiled finish, with solid tiles or mosaic tiles. While tiled pools are sought after, careful consideration must be given to the water balance in a tiled pool. Poor water balance can disintegrate the grout between the tiles and cause the pool to leak.
Gunite with a marble plaster finish
Concrete pools with a marble paster finish are the most popular out of the gunite pools. Good water balance is also a requirement with this type of pool.
Gunite with fibreglass lining finish
A concrete (gunite) pool with a fibreglass lining is said to be “the best of both”. Having the strength of a concrete shell and the ease of maintenance with a fibreglass finish.
At the end of the day, it comes down to personal preference and practicality. We prefer to ask you questions and get to know your needs first, before recommending a solution.
